Rentals in Limestone, Maine

Limestone sits in Aroostook County, close to the New Brunswick border in Maine's far north. It is a quiet, walkable town where rents stay well below what the same space costs in southern Maine.

About Limestone

Limestone is in northern Aroostook County, a short distance from the Canadian border. Aroostook is the largest county in Maine by area, and Limestone reflects that: open sky, working farmland, and a town center small enough to cross on foot.

For much of the twentieth century the town grew around Loring Air Force Base, which closed in 1994. The site has since been redeveloped for civilian use, and the housing, roads and services built for the base are part of why a town this size has the infrastructure it does. That history is also why rents here are so reasonable relative to the space you get.

The appeal for renters is straightforward. Housing costs are among the lowest in the state. Winters are real and the town is set up for them. Summers are long in daylight and short in crowds. If you work in the area, or you are looking for somewhere to live without giving most of your pay to rent, Limestone is worth a serious look.

Most of our Limestone apartments are in and around the Main Street area. Availability moves, so if nothing below fits what you need, get in touch and we will let you know what is coming up.
